Alberobello by day, Termoli by night

When Phil and I got up yesterday, we weren’t sure exactly which excursion we’d take. We thought of going to Isole Tremiti, which is a beautiful local island, but we’d be there from before 8 am to 7 pm. Seeing that we got up at 8:30, that one was scratched. So we went to Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage site with Trulli style houses. Mom joined us for this trip and we all ate lunch together in a Trulli.

When we got back to the house, we dropped mom off and went on over to Termoli for the San Basso festival. We made it in time to see the solemn processional, complete with the bones of San Basso being paraded around the streets. The city was alive with people taking walks, musicians, and the smell of fresh crepes and roasted nuts. We ended up eating at Anima and Core.

We all just checked into the Hilton Rome Airport hotel and will be heading into town soon.
