Pizza at last. We visited Ristorante Netti in town last
night for some pizza. With no food in the house, it was the perfect night the
head out. The restaurant had a soccer game on the TV, and plenty of customers
discussing the Euro cup. Mom had her favorite, Pizza Netti with arugula,
Pomodorini (little tomatoes), mozzarella di bufala, olio di olive, and shavings
of grana padano cheese. I had Pizza Scorpion, with mozzarella, caciacavallo
(sharp provolone), and salsice piccante (spicy sausage). After not having pizza
for six months, it was a welcome taste. I only ate half, so I have more in the
fridge for another time.
After heading to the frutivendoli (fruit vendors – like a farmers market) this morning, I came home and got to work with some amazing veggies. I roasted some zucchini, pepperoni rossi (red peppers), cipolla (onions), melanzane (eggplant), and pomodorini (little tomatoes) with olio di olive, salsiccia con finicchio (sausage with fennel seeds) and pollo (chicken). While it was cooking, the appetizing aroma filled the condo. It did not disappoint with shavings of grana padano cheese on top.
